The Copland Valley is about 26km south of Fox Glacier, South Westland.
This was a 3-4 day tramp I did with Plodd (Peter) and Delwyn. As you will see by the photos it wasn't very warm. (Thank god for long-johns heh heh). It was in winter, the tramp was done mainly in the shade and it was really pleasant to get into some sun and soak up the rays and some coffee. While at Welcome Flats Hut we took a dip in the hot pools and had an awesome Southern Light show. Also while staying at Douglas Rock Hut we heard a few avalanches and also felt them as the Hut shook a few times....scary and exciting.
